2008 Seriously Twisted
Following in the footsteps of Flat Rock’s Twisted, Seriously Twisted is also a unique and unorthodox blend, and consists of four different varieties. The blend for the 2008 Seriously Twisted consists of 79% Chardonnay, with 7% each of Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir. All three white varieties were processed as gently as possible, with hand sorting and whole bunch pressing being followed by barrel fermentation. A barrel of Pinot Noir was drained down by gravity from a tank of Pinot Noir on the day of harvesting. This ensured a minimum of colour pick-up, while still retaining all the fruity characters of the Pinot Noir grapes. This was also fermented in barrel. All barrels were stirred weekly to develop creamy yeast characters. After 10 months of ageing the blend was assembled and allowed to settle without finings being added. Bottling Date: 15 September 2009
