WMB Weekend Workshop
Much more than a tour, these sessions allow you to participate in activities such as blending seminars, food and wine demonstrations and pre-release tasting sessions.
Hosted by the knowledgeable Flat Rock Cellars’ staff, these seminars are held on select Saturdays throughout the year.
Schedule:
February 5th - Taste Profiling
Does a high score mean that you'll like a wine? This session is all about you. A good Winemaker needs to understand his/her own tastes before making wine for others. Learn to drink with your mouth, not your eyes.
April 9th - Untwist Twisted-A Unique Blending Session
Think you can improve on Ross' blend? Learn exactly how to bring together wines from different grapes into a blended wine that surpasses it's parts. And then try your hand at making your own blend.
May 14th - Pinot Noir: FRC vs. The World
A Winemaker must be constantly fine tuning his/her palette (read: drinking lots of wine). Take an in-depth look at the complexity and nuances of this great variety in a comparative tasting against wines from around the world.
September 4th & 11th - Pick, Stomp and Taste
This is the big show. A Winemaker works towards this moment all year and the pressure is on. It's harvest time and you need to roll up your pants and make wine the old fashioned way.
November 5th - A Taste of the New Harvest
A long winter begins for the Winemaker. The wines may have just finished fermenting and although the Winemaker will tinker with his wines over the winter, he knows that mother nature has already dictated the potential of this vintage. Don't wait for the experts, be the first to taste the new wines from tank and barrel and make your own judgement on the 2011's.
Time: 10 am - 12 pm
