In the Winemaker's Boots
Have you ever dreamed of being a winemaker? To care for the vines, understand the science behind the winery, and experience first hand the magic of life in a vineyard?
If so, then you should join us at Flat Rock for a walk “in the winemaker’s boots”. Whether you have only a few hours, or have the time to really dig deep, our Winemaker Marlize Beyers and President Ed Madronich will walk you through what they do, how it’s done and why they do it.
Weekend Workshops: 2 hour sessions, ideal if you are pressed for time (or have difficulty committing)
In the Winemaker’s Boots: 4 full day seminars, each one is designed to spotlight the seasonal activities taking place in both the winery and the vineyard at a critical time of the growing year.
3-Day Crush Camp: we’ll inspire your taste buds, challenge your stamina and make you sweat.
Call the winery at 905-562-8994 or email us (need to know which address for this link) for more information or to book your space.

In the Winemaker’s Boots
Prepare yourself for 4 uniquely different, very hands-on, full-day sessions. Four key components – vineyard activities, winery work, lab analysis, and tasting/blending sessions – are featured in each session.
We’ll serve up a fantastic lunch each day and you’ll walk away with a cool Flat Rock t-shirt in one hand and a snazzy certificate in the other. Most importantly, you’ll have had a hardworking, informative and hopefully inspiring day in the winemaker’s boots.
We’ll provide the all the tools you need, you just bring the elbow grease, your sense of adventure and, as always, a sense of humour.
Book one or all four for an experience you won’t forget. You will never look at a bottle of wine the same way again.
Session 1: March 14, 2008
Session 2: June 6, 2008
Session 3: August 15, 2008
Session 4: October 3, 2008
Time: 9 am - 5 pm
Price: $200 each or FRC Club Members can book all 4 for $700*
Price includes GST on the $10.00 tasting portion of the session
3-Day Crush Camp
For three full days you will find yourself completely immersed in the magical world of winemaking. You’ll hand-pick, hand-sort and crush Flat Rock Cellars’ 2008 vintage grapes. There’ll be punch-downs and bottoms-ups along the way. You’ll get your hands dirty… and then you’ll have to scrub them clean because you will also be unearthing the secrets to creating perfect food and wine pairings.
Winemaker, Marlize Beyers and Chef, Patrick Engel of the Good Earth Cooking School are going to tantalize your tastebuds. You’ll learn how these experts create sublime sensory experiences with their pairings of fine food and wines.
This isn’t some namby pamby “watch what the professionals do and take pictures” event.
This is raw, non-stop, roll up your sleeves and get-in-there-yourself understanding.
And next year, when you drink your first sip of this vintage, your vintage… you’ll know exactly what all the fuss was about.
Date: October 10 - 12, 2008
Price: $1,000 per person $900 for FRC Wine Club Members* (accommodations are not included; however, we can assist you in finding appropriate lodgings). All meals are included.
